    Genuinely promising in neonatal calves, but the canine evidence is close to absent — one unblinded ten-dog study in a non-indexed journal. The one controlled canine microbiota trial used a different zeolite with clinoptilolite absent, and the most rigorous trial against a diarrhoea endpoint in any species missed its primary endpoint.

Effectiveness of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate, marine-based fatty acid compounds, and carprofen in dogs with hip osteoarthritis

Scope. Six-week block-randomised, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial in 75 owned dogs measured against force-plate peak vertical force.

Supports. Objective gait evidence that marine lipid extracts can shift weight-bearing, and that glucosamine/chondroitin at 30 mg/kg/day performed similarly to placebo.

Does not establish. Does not extend beyond six weeks, found no significant between-group difference on subjective scoring, and was supported by a supplement manufacturer.

Systematic review and meta-analysis of enriched therapeutic diets and nutraceuticals in canine and feline osteoarthritis

Clinical effect of probiotics in prevention or treatment of gastrointestinal disease in dogs: a systematic review

Supports. Establishes stool consistency as the practical primary outcome for canine digestive research and the need for strain-level data.

Claim ceiling: Composition, energy density and feeding rate only. The feeding rate is a calculation from resting energy requirement and this product's own caloric density — arithmetic about the food, not a prediction about a dog, and two dogs doing identical work will not return identical results. Performance, endurance, recovery and stamina may not be claimed: they are structure/function claims under 21 U.S.C. § 321(g)(1)(C) however accurately they describe the animal's job, and a product sold for working dogs does not get more latitude than one sold for pets. It gets less, because the buyer is relying on it. Palatability may be described, because acceptance is an observable property of the food. Appetite is not: a product presented as addressing inappetence is presented as a treatment, and a dog going off feed is a clinical sign rather than a marketing opportunity.
